Cure JM

Northern California chapter

Our family is excited to announce our involvement with Cure JM Northern California, the Foundation’s newest chapter.  Cure JM is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families and finding a cure for Juvenile Myositis (“JM”). Dwight and Maria will serve as part of the Volunteer Leadership Team to build Northern California's Family Support Network, bringing support, education, and fun to families in Northern California who have children struggling with JM and JDMS.

We will connect with Bay Area hospitals to identify families that are in need of support. We believe that through strengthening family connections and providing emotional support, we can help reduce the stress and fear experienced by those who are living with or affected by JM and JDMS.

On February 23rd, 2019, we hosted our first Northern California Chapter Social and Educational Event at our home in San Jose. It provided an opportunity for fellow Cure JM families and medical professionals to connect outside of a clinical environment, with children and teens invited to participate in icebreakers and games.

During the event, local physicians spoke about topics of interest to Cure JM families. Cure JM Executive Director Jim Minow also presented an update on the latest JM research, current clinical trials, and potential new treatments.
